Our teachers...
Rob Fricker – Electric & Acoustic Guitar, 4 & 5 String Bass Guitar
Rob started his musical career path at a very early age, starting his first band at the age of 11 and gigging
around his home town of Canvey Island and Southend-on-Sea. Rob earned his stripes playing in several bands around Essex,
when in 1990 he joined the then unsigned band ‘Sunscreem’, who in 1991 signed a major recording deal with Sony Music
and went on to have a string of top 40 hit records in the early 90’s, achieving No1 status in the UK and US dance charts
and toured the UK, Europe and the USA extensively.
Rob relocated to Norfolk in February 2010 where he is currently teaching, writing and producing music in
his own studio based at East Coast Music. Robs lessons are aimed at both beginners and intermediate guitarists covering
all age groups and are focused on learning about and understanding the guitar through learning songs and techniques
based on music that the individual students enjoy and can identify with.
John Nockolds – Electric & Acoustic Guitar
John is a guitarist whose experience goes back to the 60s covering most guitar playing styles.
John is keen to pass on his knowledge and share the pleasure he has gained from the instrument.
His lessons aim for early results giving the confidence which inspires incentive for further progress to higher levels with his guidance.
The lessons are intended to be fun and to appreciate guitar music generally, but the target is for the pupils to
eventually know how to identify and play guitar music of their own choice by understanding what makes the guitar "tick".
Chris Lord – Electric & Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar
Chris first started playing guitar at the age of 11 and started playing in bands at the age of 16.
Chris's experience covers both playing live, touring and recording at a professional level and he is a well known musician
in the Kings Lynn area. As well as teaching, which he has been doing at East Coast since 2003,
Chris is also involved in the popular 'Summer School'
and is a well known figure in the shop.
Chris's lessons focus on helping students achieve the confidence and
playing ability to move up to the next level
and take their experience to playing in a live band.
Benjamin Howell – Piano, Keyboards & Trumpet
Building positively on the benefits of a good musical education, Ben left college to commence a career in the challenging,
yet personally fulfilling, world of professional music. Ben trained on the piano, organ and trumpet and gained grades
with both Royal Associated Board of Music and
London College of Music.
Ben's teaching experiences include working in Great Massingham Primary
School and East Coast Music Centre
as a piano/trumpet teacher, teaching students of all ages throughout the grades.
The lessons that Ben undertakes are individually formulated for each pupil, covering all aspects
to ensure enjoyment and exam success.
The last three years have also given Ben the opportunity to work with the students at the
College of West Anglia as Musical Director, teacher and vocal coach for their summer musical productions.
Mick Healey - Drums
Mick has been a professional drummer since the 1960's covering all styles of music, backing many well
known cabaret and show artists and playing in dance bands both on tours and summer seasons all over the UK.
Now retired from long tours, Mick has turned his wealth of experience and skills to teaching drums at East Coast Music.
Mick is a traditional drummer in every sense and his range of styles include many techniques long-forgotten
by most modern drummers. Micks lessons are a fun way of exploring and discovering what you and the drums can do.
All teachers are CRB and Police checked
